Hello! There’s something I’ve been thinking about recently. Usually when I go somewhere I write about the things I do, and mostly about my food experiences. But today I realized that I almost never write anything about my food experiences here in Stockholm, where I live. Those who are following my twitter might have seen some pictures now and then, but I thought I’d make an effort to actually write about some places today ^-^ So here goes! I’m going to write about some recent places where I went to for dinner. Some are a bit pricy and some not-so-pricy ~

All the pictures are taken with an iPhone, and edited with Instagram ^^

Here’s how I’ve decided to label the prices (roughly):

Cheap: less than 100 SEK (less than 15$)
Moderate: 100 – 250 SEK (15$ – 39$)
Pricy: 250 – 500 SEK (40$ – 70$)
Luxury: 500 SEK or above (71$ or above)

☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆

Råkultur
Kungstensgatan 2
Closest station: subway Tekniska Högskolan
I love Råkultur. It’s one of my favorite sushi places in Stockholm. I haven’t been to that many different places though, but so far I think I like this place the best. I’ve been there a couple of times and the sushi has always been delicious. I think you will have the best experience when going there as a bigger group, because then you can order lots of different things and share with each other. They have lots of different things in their menu, not only sushi (but I like it the best~). We always ask the staff to recommend things for us. And when you order together like that, the plates are really gigantic :’D

And they have Owl beer :’D And they also have umeshu <3

Food: Asian, Japanese, Sushi
Price: Moderate

☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆

Tezukuri Sushi
Hammarby Kaj 38
Closest station: tram (tvärbana) Luma
This is also one of my favorite sushi places in Stockholm. It’s in Hammarby Sjöstad, which is a bit closer to where I live. As of the seasoning and arrangement, this place reminds me a bit of Råkultur. ^^ I’ve only tried their sushi and sashimi, but they have lots of other dishes as well. And oh yeah, when you order sashimi you get it served on a wooden boat. How cool is that :’D

They also have umeshu <3

Food: Asian, Japanese, Sushi
Price: Cheap/Moderate

☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆

Nam Kang
Birger Jarlsgatan 38
Closest station: subway Östermalmstorg
This is a korean restaurant with a wide range of dishes. They have Korean BBQ, Chicken & seafood, soups and much more. I really liked having the BBQ because you get to grill your own food at the table ^^ I haven’t been to that many Korean restaurants in Stockholm yet so I don’t have much to compare with. But this place also has a karaoke room! :’D I’ve been here twice so far, and both times we were a pretty big group so we booked the Karaoke room. Trying out korean beer and liquor and sining karaoke is really fun. :D The food was also great, but I think it was the whole experience I enjoyed the most.

Food: Asian, Korean, BBQ
Price: Moderate

☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆

AG
Kronobergsgatan 37
Closest station: subway Fridhemsplan
If you like meat, you’re going to love AG. They have porterhouse, club steak, rib eye, or just a simple burger, everything you could wish for when it comes to really delicious meat. They also have other things on their menu, but I would definitely recommend the meat. It’s hard to find better steaks than this in Stockholm. I’ve only been here once, since it’s kind of pricy, but I would love to eat here again some day. I would definitely recommend it.

To the left: starters. To the right: meat :D

Food: Scandinavian, Husman, Meat
Price: Pricy

☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆

Svartengrens
Tulegatan 24
Closest station: subway Tekniska Högskolan
Another stylish and ambitious meat restaurant. The food was good, but it didn’t really live up to my expectations for the price. The thing I really liked about this restaurant was that they offered a meat-drink. :D Yes, that’s right, Absolutely Lechery – an unlikely mix of vodka, fat from rib eye, and butter, a drink that became a hot topic in Stockholm’s restaurant world in the beginning of 2012. It was a bit strange, but surprisingly good! Although I haven’t been to Svartengrens since then, some of my friends went there recently and told me they didn’t have the meat-drink anymore :( And if you want to eat meat, I would recommend going to AG instead. But it was a nice experience. ^^

The meat-drink is the small glass in the top right picture. ~
And my friend’s steak was in the shape of a heart :’D so cute!

Food: Scandinavian, Meat, cocktails,
Price: Pricy

☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆

Sjögräs
Timmermansg. 24
Closest station: subway Mariatorget
The name “Sjögräs” means seaweed, kind of a strange name for a restaurant if you ask me :’D But here you can enjoy tasty and delicious food with inspirations from the classic French cuisine but made with Swedish influences, in a very in a cozy atmosphere. I’ve only been here once, and although I enjoyed the food, my overall experience weren’t that great. At first we had to wait for a very long time, even though there weren’t that many other customers, so that was a bit strange. But I didn’t see that many waiters/waitresses around either so they might have been a bit understaffed. And after we left, we noticed that the staff had mixed up my boyfriend’s credit card with someone else’s when he paid. So that was a bit troublesome.. But of course, anyone can make mistakes, so I suppose it’s not that big of a deal. But if it would to happen when you’re on a trip, it would be very troublesome… ^^;; But anyway. Although the food was great, the whole experience didn’t really live up to my expectations for the price.

But one thing I really did enjoy were their drinks :D ~ At the bar you’ll find a lighter food menu, fantastic rum drinks, and reggae, soul, hip hop and world music flowing from the speakers. Downstairs they have their rum cellar, for those who want to settle down with a lovely dark rum, freshly ground coffee and taste Sjögräs’s own chocolate from Tobago. I’m not a big fan of rum, but I do love those sweet caribbean rum drinks ~ And these one’s where delicious! And mine was only 108 SEK (about 16$, and yes that is actually considered kind of cheap in Stockholm….) Of course they also have stronger drinks made with darker rum.

Palmyra
Årstavägen 57
Closest station: bus Årsta Torg
Okay this maybe isn’t a typical place to have dinner (unless you’re taking out), more like lunch or hangover breakfast (that’s what I usually have here haha :’D). But since we live practically next door from this place, I just have to bring it up ^_^ Palmyra is said to have the the best kebab in Stockholm, and I choose to agree. Ever since I went to Tunisia some time ago I’ve become quite picky when it comes to kebab. Because the best kebab I’ve ever tasted where in Tunisia. But Palmyra does a pretty good job! Their kebab actually tastes of lamb, which I think is hard to find at regular kebab places. On top of that, the portions at Palmyra are HUGE. I can’t even finish half a plate. But you can always ask for a doggy bag :D Even though they expanded recently, it’s often crowded and the cue sometimes even goes out in the street, but the service is incredibly effective so you won’t have to wait long. They also have delicious vegetarian options such as falafel, eggplant and Hoummus-plate. There’s also a fresh salad- and sauce bar where you get to choose your own topping. Their aioli is the best!

Falafel plate with rice, hoummus and lots of aioli <3

Food and Drinks

Miss Voon
Sturegatan 22
Closest station: subway Östermalmstorg
A modern Asian restaurant with European influences. The food was delicious and I like the concept, but if I’m going back here I think I would go straight to the bar. The food was great, but it’s so pricy that I wouldn’t really recommend it as a dinner place. Or well, maybe it you’re not really that hungry ^^;; All dishes are served in half portions, which makes it easier to share and try different dishes, but they are quite expensive. But I really loved the drinks! Miss Voon is part of the F12 group, and like all the pubs in the F12 family they have a big love for cocktails. As an umeshu-lover I would definitely recommend the “East Asia Bellili” with plum wine(umeshu), peach and Champagne. Too bad I don’t have a picture of it though >_> but here’s a picture of some food ~

Food: Asian Fusion, cocktails

Bauer
Götgatan 15
Closest station: subway Slussen
This restaurant has an atmosphere that reminds me of New York. I’ve actually never tried their food, but my friends say it’s delicious. But I love to go here and just have a drink. The bartenders are very professional and they have a wide range of cocktails in their drink list. You can choose one from the menu, or ask for your favorite drink, or you can just tell the bartender what you like and they will mix something for you. You won’t be disappointed.

Food: Asian, Sushi, steak house, cocktails
Price: Moderate

☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆

So yeah, those are some of the places I’ve been to so far that I thought was worth writing about ^_^ there are still lots of pubs and restaurants I want to visit, but since I’m still on a student’s budget I can’t afford to eat out that often. But I probably do it more than I should ^^;; But the thing I do to be able to eat at those more pricy places is that I usually just order a starter, and drink water instead of wine, and things like that. And of course, I’ve chosen to eat out instead of buying new clothes and stuff ~

I don’t know if many people who read my blog are particularly interested in food places in Stockholm, but for my own sake I’m really happy I made this post. This way I can look back and remember all the delicious food <3 And I hope that some might find this post interesting as well ~

oh and I went to a Starcraft II event (DreamHack EIZO Open Stockholm) for the first time in my life :’D My boyfriend (and lots of other friend as well) love Starcraft and they had an extra ticket so I decided to come as well. I haven’t really watched that much Starcraft II, and I’ve only played Starcraft I when I was little, but it was actually really fun. ^_^ A swedish guy called Thorzain won, which I think was really cool. He’s such a great player. For second and third place where two guys from South Korea of course :’D but they played really good as well. I’m not that into it yet so I don’t know that many players and so, but I think I’ll try to watch more Starcraft games from now on. ^-^

Hello! I’ve been having some Japan-cravings lately, and my solution to that has been to make lots of Japanese food… ^^; so here’s some more! this time I decided to try and make one of my favorite sweets: Melon pan! (メロンパン)

I served it at an easter party later ^_^

To make it, I followed this video recipe:

or watch on Youtube

It was kind of hard to follow the measuring instructions, but I found it easier when using a units converter, for example this one (english) or this one (swedish). I also found a similar recipe that’s in writing instead, if you find it easier to follow ^-^ This was the first time I ever tried to make Melon Pan, and I have to say it wasn’t all that easy to make x_x but I’m happy about the result. They may not be as pretty as the original, but they tasted delicious ~

At the convenient store they usually look something like this:

And here’s mine, fresh out the oven ~

いただきます！

Hello! I just remembered that I had a strong craving for Onigiri a while ago, so I spontaneously made some from things I had at home ^^ So I thought I’d share the recipe!

We bought this cute bento from Loft when we were in Tokyo ~

Onigiri Recipe

Begin to cook some rice. To make it perfectly sticky I followed this recipe and made rice for 4 persons.

2 cups sushi rice (actually I used regular jasmine rice)

2 cups water

4 tablespoons rice vinegar

3 tablespoons sugar

2 teaspoons salt

2 tablespoons mirin

I didn’t follow the cooking instructions completely though, because I was hungry and didn’t want to wait for the rice to dry. I usually just follow the cooking instructions on the rice package. Also, I added the sauce after the rice had finished boiling, but I think it turned out okay anyway!

When the rice is finished it’s time to make some fillings. For that I decided to use things I had at home, and those things were… chicken, mayonnaise and Okonomiyaki sauce. so that’s what I used ^^; I didn’t have a recipe for this, but I just went with it.

400 g chicken

1 tablespoon soy sauce

oil to fry the chicken

2 tablespoons Kewpie mayonnaise

2 tablespoons Okonomiyaki sauce

Fry the chicken in a pan together with oil and soy sauce until it’s cooked. Then chop it up into smaller pieces, put it into a bowl and add mayonnaise and sauce. If it seems to dry, just add more mayonnaise or sauce. Although I used the Japanese Kewpie Mayo (I like it the best) and Okonomiyaki sauce, you can use any kind of sauce you like. I think other bulldog sauces would be delicious too.

Now it’s time to make the onigiri! Fill a bowl with cold water (some suggest you stir in a couple teaspoons of salt in it, but I don’t like too much salt so I usually skip that part) Dip your hands in the water before beginning to make each onigiri. This way the rice won’t stick to your hands too much. Then start shaping your onigiri. I decided to make circles and triangles. You can shape it by cupping your hands together and clumping the rice together. When you’ve made a nice shape, make a small hole in the middle and add your filling, then cover with rice and form it into the right shape again. When you’re done you can fold a strip of nori (seaweed) around the onigiri if you like. I made a quick visual guide of this~

And that’s it! いただきます！

Oh and I forgot to take proper pictures of the inside of my onigiri, but here’s a picture I took with my iPhone:

Hello! So, finally doing the last post about my Tokyo trip: shopping! 買い物。

some of the make up and things I bought~

some random outfit photos from Tokyo~

on to the pictures! (lots of them~) — v

As seen on the first picture, I bought some press-on-fake-nails at a 300 yen store in Harajuku (I love that store!), hair band from Forever21, fake hair scrunchie from Prisila, an orange blush from Canmake, Diamond nose makeup (I dunno’ just wanted to try it ^^) and my favorite Diamond Lashes.

I love these~

Here’s a little close up of me wearing the hair accessories and some of the make up

I also bought this black and white sweater for only 1000 yen in Harajuku ^^ and these lovely boots~

I also bought a nice winter jacket! since it was practically spring in Tokyo already all the winter jackets were on sale ^_^ lucky for me!

and here are some outfit photos I took in the hotel in Tokyo ^^

☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆.。.:*・°☆

Omiyage お土産 (souvenirs)

I’m really bad at deciding what to buy as souvenirs, so I ended up buying candy for everyone ^^;;

Bought lots of random things that I thought looked tasty :D

more mochi ^-^

Hmm well I don’t know about this fish thingy though… xD

and of course I bought the cute Rilakkuma cup of soup thingys ^-^

Another thing I really fell in love with in Tokyo was the Azuki Matcha Latte あずき 抹茶 ラテ (red bean green tea latte) from Starbucks. I think I had one like every day. They were also available as Frappuccino あずき 抹茶 クリーム フラペチーノ

So I decided to buy some green tea latte mixes and bring home with me. :D

… I think I overdid it a bit though ^^; I became kind of obsessed with these green tea things :’D

Bought some KitKat green tea as well ^^

I think that was about everything. ~ I’ll be living on noodles for now

Hello! I wrote in my earlier post from Tokyo that I was going to do a food post as well. So here it is! ^-^

I had so much delicious food. I don’t think I managed to take pictures of it all. But I did take a lot of food pictures! also, I played around a bit when I edited them so… I hope you don’t mind ^^;

On to the pictures! (lots of them) —v

As I mentioned in my last post, we spent the first night in Ginza and had delicious nabe (hot pot) and other side dishes. ^^

I also had lots of delicious ramen and soba ^^

Another thing I really enjoyed was to go to tabehoudai 食べ放題 (all you can eat buffé). It is usually so much cheaper in Tokyo than in Sweden! above are some pictures from a place in Takadanobaba where we had tabehoudai + nomihoudai (all you can drink buffé) for 2 hours for only 1900 yen (if I remember it right. it might have been a little bit more but still very cheap!)

I also love the concept nomihoudai :D We don’t have anything like that in Sweden. But that’s probably a good thing since we have a whole different drinking culture here in Sweden… ^^;; Above are pictures of a Kiwi Sour to the left, an Orange Sour to the right, and a Hoppy Beer in the middle. The Hoppy thing was really weird because you kind of made it yourself o_O you got a glass with some liquor and a bottle of “hoppy” and then you added the hoppy to the liquor. strange!

And I got to eat delicious Okonomiyaki! (literally like.. “whatever you like frying”, kinda like a pancake but with meat and vegetables ^^) I think it’s one of my favorite foods. Here two of my friends are making a manly okonomiyaki (writing the kanji for “man” on the left ^^;)

And as I mentioned in my earlier post, we usually ended up on some Izakaya and had lots of different small dishes and drinks.

Like sushi with meat! it was delicious ^^ But of course we also had regular sushi. Or well, not as regular as in Sweden, since we had kaiten sushi :D

I love watching the sushi plates going round and round on the conveyor belt :’D

Another thing I love about Japan are the vending machines 自動販売機 that you can find everywhere! And they usually have some interesting things as well. And I really enjoy that you can also buy hot beverages from them as well ^-^

Another thing I really loved (okay maybe I love like.. everything XD), was to have an onigiri and soy milk for breakfast! ^-^ I especially love ツナマヨー (tuna mayonnaise) and チッキンマヨー (chicken mayonnaise). And the onigiris are only about 100 yen so they’re really cheap. ^^

Also, I finally got to taste some mochi! For example I tried some dango (as seen in the picture above), but I also tried other types of mochi as well. I bought some to take home as Omiyage お土産 (souvenirs) as well. I’m making a different post later about the things that I bought ^^

Oh I just love food that have things inside ^_^;;;

I also found the cutest cup of soup I’ve ever seen *-*

Rilakkuma cup of soup <3

But yeah, that’s all of the food pictures I got. ^^ Of course I had more delicious food (such as カレー for example), but I forgot to take pictures of it all. But anyway. I really love japanese food. ~

And tomorrow is Valentine’s Day! They were selling sooo much Valentine’s chocolate everywhere in Tokyo. I forgot to take pictures of all the cute little chocolate boxes though ;_; … I wonder what me and Johan are going to do on Valentine’s tomorrow… maybe I’ll bake something cute.. hmm.. do any of you guys have plans for tomorrow? ^^

But anyway. Christmas!

I had a wonderful Christmas together with my family and relatives. Lots of laughter and delicious food and candy.

Also, I made a t-shirt graphic for my cousin. ^^

she loves candy, games, manga, dogs and lots of other “geeky” things. ^-^ I’m also planning on selling a similar design at TIFF in the future. But we are currently ongoing maintenance, so we don’t handle any orders at the moment.. But we are soon going to re-launch our website and it will be even more awesome than before!

Hello! Sorry I haven’t updated in a while. I’ve been so busy this week. But I thought I’d just write a quick post about yesterdays Halloween party. It was both a halloween party and a birthday party for two friends of mine. They really love Minecraft. So I thought I’d do a Minecraft theme for this party ^_^

First I made some sweets ~~

And then I made a matching outfit~~ it was kind of last minute though, so it didn’t turn out as great as I wanted it to.. but anyway~~

I was trying to be a Creeper from Minecraft. Creepy, huh? ….. (ha…ha…ha :’)

I think I’m going to attend another halloween party next weekend. Need to come up with an outfit…
